Power Nap Shares New Collection 'Shaped Canvas'
Tāmaki Makaurau electronic artist Power Nap has dropped his debut long-player Shaped Canvas, a ten track collection gathering together and unearthing "rarities, remixes and ephemera" recorded under various guises by Chris Cudby (full disclosure: he's also editor of this website) between 2012 and 2019. The former Golden Axe singer and keyboardist's new compilation leads listeners on an alternately high energy and chill journey through proto-vaporwave party jams, lo-tech psychedelic pop, looping sample slices and zoned-out soundscapes – including material originally recorded for his previous group (live fave 'Pizza Man'), his ambient project Airwalk, and a recent remix for Ghost Wave.
