Auckland's Water Announce Debut Album 'Supa' + Drop Single 'Alligator'
Tāmaki Makaurau's Water made waves in late 2017 with the surprise drop of their seven track Enjoy EP, showcasing the songwriting talents of ex-Rackets members Oscar Davies-Kay and Vince Nairn alongside a cast of familiar local faces including Rikki Sutton (Eyes No Eyes), Mike Ellis (Surf City), Mason Fairey (Nae Nae Express), Joel BB (The Mint Chicks) and Elliot Lawless (Greenfog). Water have made their triumphant return with 'Alligator', and have revealed their debut album Supa will be releasing in early September – recorded, mixed and mastered by Stephan Marr, and a special vinyl release featuring both the new collection and their earlier EP launching in collaboration with the champs at Flying Out and Hallertau Brewery. The band's snappy latest tune offers a leisurely-paced deep dive into sparkling jangle-pop, with a healthy dose of fuzzed-out fret-tangle and stare-into-your-pint-glass emotive lyricism to keep you wanting more. Their 2018 single 'Turn Out The Lights' also makes an appearance on Supa plus six more fresh numbers – listen to 'Alligator' below and catch them at The Others Way Festival in late August...
'Supa' releases independently on Friday 6th September digitally and on 12" vinyl (backed with their 'Enjoy' EP) in collaboration with Flying Out and Hallertau Brewery.
