Listen To Green Grove's Debut Album 'Machine Music'

A.K. / Friday 27th September, 2019 10:20AM

Tāmaki Makaurau electronic explorers Green Grove have dropped their debut album Machine Music. The project of Durham Fenwick (New Gum Sarn, Bozo), each of Green Grove’s single offerings have been a luxurious breath of fresh air, drawing from lounge music and Stereolab synth-stylings. Machine Music cranks out tune after tune of similarly lush tracks, embellished with fuzzy vocoder, lavish keys and cinematic overtones. Groove to Green Grove’s live band featuring multi-instrumentalist JY Lee (Yoko-Zuna), synthesist Madison Eve (Peach Milk), bassist Paul Brown (Trust Punks, Horror In Clay), and drummer Mason Fairey (The Naenae Express), on their North Island release tour, kicking off tonight at Auckland’s Wine Cellar, with neo-soul group Skilaa and electronic innovator Kraus. Fenwick delved into the ideas behind the album’s title in an interview with UTR’s Chris Cudby

"I eventually landed on Machine Music because it is a reminder of what created the record. I was also thinking about the juxtaposition between the organic and synthetic elements on the record, and by giving the album a name that sounds at first industrial to then present some organic sounds from machines plays in to those elements."
