Thorington Shares New Wave Single 'Misery'
Tāmaki Makaurau's Thorington (Yukon Era) has shared his third solo single with the world ‘Misery’. The new tune is an angular synth-infused, new wave-influenced lament self-recorded in the youthful artist’s garage, recalling the snappy lo-tech pop chops of the likes of Ariel Pink. Thorington states the single is likely to be his last release of 2019 – with new material, including collaborative work, en route for 2020. Stream ‘Misery’ below and read the artist's words on the song’s inspiration...
“The song marks the end of an Era, as many things that my childhood revolves around are
ending, like school, and my grandparents house got sold which has been the family home since
I was born. The album cover is me levitating in the garden of that very house.”
