The Leonard Simpson Duo Sample Aldous Harding & Marlon Williams On 'Nobody'

A.B. / Friday 6th December, 2019 12:07PM

Tāmaki Makaurau producer Leonard Charles (aka Jeremy Toy of She's So Rad) has teamed up with Detroit rap icon and Stones Throw mainstay Guilty Simpson for their new single ‘Nobody’. The first track off L.S.D., the pair's debut album as The Leonard Simpson Duo, ‘Nobody’ samples the Aldous Harding and Marlon Williams heart-break classic ‘Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore’. Taking their cues from 60s and 70s acid psych, Leonard Charles transforms the 2018 Silver Scroll Winner into an Ennio Morricone hashish party, all decked out in phasers and fuzz guitar. Guilty Simpson’s characteristically uncompromising lyrical flow sits in the mix with surprising comfort, keeping the track anchored in reality. Turn on, tune in, and drop out to a stream of The Leonard Simpson Duo’s ‘Nobody’ below...

L.S.D. is out digitally and on LP on Friday 31 January via Jakarta Records - pre-orders are available now.
