Yumi Zouma Share Dreamy Single 'Right Track / Wrong Man'

A.K. / Wednesday 11th December, 2019 11:26AM

Continent-spanning dream-pop crew Yumi Zouma have been drip feeding fans singles and snippets since dropping the killer EP III last year, and today's 'Right Track / Wrong Man' is another dazzling synth stacked track. Shared alongside the announcement of their signing to US label Polyvinyl Records, and cryptic, kaleidoscopic visuals overlaid with letters 'O', 'C' and 'T', the Zoumies clearly have something exciting up their sleeve for 2020. Despite being split between Christchurch, Wellington, New York and the UK, the four-piece sound as focussed as ever on 'Right Track / Wrong Man', and with lilting, polyphonic vocals shared between Christie Simpson and Josh Burgess, the track delivers as a classic Yumi Zouma bop. Simpson explained the thought behind the new song...

"Right Track / Wrong Man’ comes from a place of uncertainty – of not knowing if you should stay in the comfort of a slightly unfulfilling relationship, or branch out and make the most of the youth you have left; meet new people, go out more, dance, live. In the last year or so I've found myself switching between these modes, unable to work out what makes me happier, left feeling a little lost – but I've always found solace in the knowledge that at least I've been going out more, meeting new people, dancing – and living."

Yumi Zouma's latest single 'Right Track / Wrong Man' is out now via Polyvinyl Records and Inertia Music.
