Witchskull + Potion New Zealand Tour Announced

Pōneke's Obey The Riff festival is already looking to be Aotearoa's heavy music highlight of 2020, causing much wailing and gnashing of teeth for true metal maniacs unable to hitch a ride to the capital's annual celebration of guitar-mangling riff mania in March. Auckland and Christchurch punters need not despair, as even more Obey The Riff side shows have been revealed for both cities, to be co-headlined by the hard-hitting Australian double punch of Canberra doom-rockers Witchskull and Sydney psych-metal crew Potion. They'll be joined by Owaga Valley stoner / sludge / doom masters Swamp Dweller for their South Island gig, grip the details right here...

So you like riffs, eh? Well Panhead Custom Ales and Obey the Riff have got a treat for headbangers in Auckland and Christchurch this March. Aussie doomers Witchskull and Potion are teaming up for two side shows before their appearance at Obey the Riff Festival.

Canberra's Witchskull were last seen in New Zealand in June supporting Beastwars and giving them a good run for their money. Witchskull have been described as Ozzy Osbourne singing for Motorhead and mix their metal up with some 60's pyschedelia, 70’s classic rock and a good deal of aggression. Label mates with Uncle Acid on Rise Above Records, Witchskull have just finished recording their 3rd album so NZ fans can expect to get a taste of these fresh riffs before it's released later in the year.

On their first ever visit to New Zealand, Sydney 3 piece Potion promise to deliver a set of crushing fuzz-drenched psychedelic doom. With 2 brilliant EPs and impressive support slots to their name they are fast becoming one of the most in demand live bands in Australia. Their unique combination of early Sabbath riffage with the brutality of the modern hardcore makes them a must see for true lovers of heavy music.
