Tami Neilson gets the ball rolling for a brand new decade with 'You Were Mine', the heart-rending latest tune revealed from her forthcoming record CHICKABOOM!, releasing in mid-February. First premiered by none other than Billboard this week, 'You Were Mine' (co-written with brother Jay Neilson) delivers a powerful package of late-night hip-swinging soul, spotlighting Neilson's vocal skills to literally show-stopping effect – howling at the moon about relationships now past. Speaking with Billboard, the Canadian-born, Tāmaki Makaurau-based artist opened up about how 'You Were Mine' was inspired by the recent loss of her father...

“We had recently lost our beloved Dad and were discussing how, when you lose someone, it is such a line in the sand, a marker in time... We talk about everything in terms of ‘before’ and ‘after’ -- each family event, each movie that comes out, each album that is recorded: ‘Was Dad there for that? Did he see that movie or was it after? He would've loved that album...

So, this song is for anyone who measures time against a deep loss of love that was an integral part of the fabric that makes up your life.”

'CHICKABOOM!' releases on Friday 14th February 2020 via Outside Music / Neilson Records.
