Stephen Malkmus Announces New Album + Shares Single 'Xian Man'
Stephen Malkmus, aka the former front-person of '90s indie-rockers Pavement, has announced his third solo full-length album Traditional Techniques. The first drop off the record 'Xian Man' strides into a new folk phase, away from the pop-electronica found in Malkmus' 2019 release Groove Denied. 'Xian Man' gets stuck right in with a deep, infectious rhythm woven through the pulled-back fuzz on the songwriter's twangy 12-string, one of a cornucopia of acoustic sounds to feature on the collection, including Afghan instruments. Sound engineer Chris Funk (The Decemberists) and guitarist Matt Sweeney (Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Chavez) hopped aboard the Malkmus train for Traditional Techniques, and will be lending their talents on the road too. Sing along to the latest tune from Stephen Malkmus via the accompanying animated lyric video...
Stephen Malkmus' third LP 'Traditional Techniques' is out March 6th via Matador/Rhythmethod.
