Sarah Mary Chadwick Returns With New Album 'Please Daddy'

A.K. / Friday 24th January, 2020 11:09AM

Melbourne songwriter Sarah Mary Chadwick (ex-Batrider) has unveiled her latest collection Please Daddy, and it's miraculously just as haunting and jaw-dropping as her 2019 release The Queen Who Stole The Sky – which was performed entirely on a 147-year-old grand organ. On her sixth LP, Chadwick will punch right through your chest and give your heart a tight squeeze, with ballad after ballad of soul-baring piano, guitar and perfect imperfect powerhouse vocals. The upbeat folk of 'Lets Fight' offers a moment of respite and a chance to catch your breath at the half way mark, sandwiched between the Twin Peaks gloom of 'The Heart And Its Double' and the heart-rending vibrato in 'Make Hey'. Chadwick has a talent for offsetting the sincerity of tight, tidy piano chords with her warbling, vocal twang to create epic sounds both gritty and alluring. The artist returns to Aotearoa in late February for a headline Auckland Town Hall performance of The Queen Who Stole The Sky – not for the faint-hearted, listen to the latest body of work from Sarah Mary Chadwick below...

'Please Daddy' is out now via Rice Is Nice Records and Sinderlyn Records.
