The Beths To Support Pixies New Zealand Show
Fresh from conquering Laneway 2020, Aotearoa guitar-pop champs The Beths have revealed their next move will be to support US alt-rock pioneers Pixies in Tāmaki Makaurau this coming March, creating what may be the catchiest lineup of bands ever to grace the stage at Spark Arena. Original Pixies members Black Francis (aka Frank Black), Joey Santiago (guitar) and drummer David Lovering – with recent addition Paz Lenchantin stepping in for Kim Deal on bass and backing vocals – will play both their seminal 1987 EP Come On Pilgrim and their classic 1988 debut album Surfer Rosa in full, plus material from their new album Beneath The Eyrie for the special arena event. The Beths are riding a wave of success following the 2018 release of their breakthrough debut album Future Me Hates Me, they're supporting 80s pop titans a-ha alongside UK hitmaker Rick Astley (!) the following day in Christchurch, and zooming back overseas for a raft of North American headline gigs in April. Here's the updated details for Pixies' imminent return to New Zealand...
