Press release:
Iconic Wellington indie-rockers Ingrid and the Ministers are hitting the road for the first time this March to celebrate the release of their debut album Kill the Sights.
Renowned for their electrifying stage-presence, the four-piece FROCK'n'roll* outfit weaves heart-aching intimacy, 60s tinged psychedelia and full on rock'n'roll across a set of original songs written by front-woman Ingrid Saker.
*FROCK’n’roll - (n): the unique blending of folk sensitivity and rock’n’roll music to create a mind-expanding journey through the mysterious, raw, orgasmic, and ultimately uplifting landscapes of love, loss and redemption. (Influences include Patti Smith, Courtney Barnett, Angel Olsen and The Velvet Underground.) An audience member remarked: I don’t normally say this after a gig, but that really made me feel something, so thank you.” Another audience member (about to faint): That just made me question my whole life!!!!!
For their Whanganui show, the Ministers are stoked to be joined by Requin (AUS). Requin have been performing and writing together in Brisbane, Australia for 4 years. They found their name in the malfunctioning television of a local fish and chip shop. The screen was caught uncontrollably switching between Australian TV quiz ‘Deal or no Deal’ and a French news channel reporting a shark attack (un attaque de requin). The same frenetic tension and release can be heard in their intricate, hanging-on-every-word performances.
