Ōtautahi's The Tacks Share Single 'Merivale'
Ōtautahi punk newbies The Tacks return with another catchy single from their debut EP s/t, out later this month. 'Merivale' tells a suburban-gothic story of loneliness, set in the part of Christchurch with the highest concentration of boutique shoe shops and Jesse Ryder assault cases. Lyrics "glass of chardonnay to toast to broken hearts ... a black book full of numbers but no one answers any calls" over a panicked bass line and fuzzy guitars paints a picture of bleak isolation in a white picket fence neighbourhood.
Tracks 'How Many Times' and 'Rat' are yet to come, indicating a four-track collection of perfectly pessimistic noise-rock on the cards for the March 27th release date. In the next few weeks The Tacks play support for Requin and Dick Move, so have a thrash to 'Merivale' and get yourself some tickets...
The Tacks' debut EP 's/t' is out Friday 27th of March.
