Who says dance music can’t be praxis? Tāmaki Makaurau via Melbourne electronic producer D. Tyrone has dropped a generous new EP Love and Music. Released just in time for Bandcamp Friday [running from 7pm tonight to 7pm Saturday NZST], the four track collection is a fundraiser for Australian initiative Pay the Rent, an organisation acting to fund the justice and survival needs of First Nations people across Victoria, by ‘paying the rent’ on occupied Aboriginal land. Primarily recorded during D.Tyrone’s first year living in Melbourne, the EP is jammed with shimmering, hypnotic house tunes – perfect listening for when you’re contemplating the ongoing injustice of colonialism, or taking action against systemic racism.
