Sam Cullen Reveals Debut EP '1000x' + Video
Following a rousing run of singles, Wellington by way of Invercargill songwriter Sam Cullen today puts his best foot forward with his debut body of work 1000x. Featuring earlier releases 'Love Lies' and 'All Night Long', along with new tunes bookended by two versions of the title track, Cullen's six song collection is the assured work of an artist poised for big things to come. 1000x is launched alongside a short film for the anthemic title track created in collaboration with Dave Thomson (Imaginary Friends) with the support of NZ On Air, depicting the golden-voiced singer roaming through imposingly huge sand dunes and lush coastal forest, with an action-packed concluding twist. I don't know if his snazzy suit and shoes combo is the most appropriate outfit for the rugged outdoor conditions, but I can confirm you can join Cullen in raising a glass to 1000x's release on his forthcoming launch tour, commencing at Tāmaki Makaurau's Wine Cellar on 25th September.
Sam Cullen reflected on embracing his outdoorsy side for the new video: "I think I did more running, falling and face-planting in those two days than I have done in my whole life. We were entirely at the hands of some pretty grim weather conditions too so I’ve got a lot more respect for Tom Cruise now!”
