'Sci-fi Orchestra' Molino Share Single / Video 'Lo And Behold'

Annabel Kean / Friday 4th September, 2020 11:03AM

As is the case with many of Aotearoa's ambitious music makers, they oft leave to Europe in search of broader horizons and collaborative discoveries, and Oliver Emmitt has struck gold in alt-pop group Molino. The five piece crew are Amsterdam-based, with members plucked from New Zealand, Iceland and Germany, already boasting a couple of festival appearances and a Grote Prijs van Nederland award. Today they share the buzzy title track from upcoming album Lo And Behold, living up to their self-appointed title 'Sci-fi orchestra' with a song absolutely drenched with instrumentation, from screeching horns to glitching synths. The video, featuring actor Frithjof Rave as both the experiment and the observer, is an unnerving portrayal of a future Covid-fuelled nightmare. Clinical and hostile, gleaming white to the point of blinding and shapeless. Listen to the latest genre-bending cut from Molino...

Molino's upcoming album 'Lo And Behold' is out this year on streaming platforms.
