Julia Jacklin Shares Two Songs For Sub Pop's Singles Club
Australia folk angel Julia Jacklin shares her first new music since the roaring success of 2019's Crushing. The two fresh tracks have been released as part of the long-running Sub Pop Singles Club, and dive head first into the woes of pandemic living. Title song 'to Perth, before the border closes' explores Jacklin's fear of missing out on good things as she moves on from place to place "chasing things, love, work, something new", only made heavier by the potential long-term commitment of a state in lockdown. Also highly relatable, the musically romantic but lyrically bleak 'CRY' recounts the experience of a new flat with new people, "hiding my depression from my housemates" because she doesn't "know them well enough yet to cry in the kitchen". Have a wee sob to Jacklin's small town gothic handycam video for 'to Perth, before the border closes'...
Julia Jacklin's singles club release 'to Perth, before the border closes' is out now via Sub Pop.
