Roy Irwin Reveals 'Demos 1' Collection

Uncontestably one of Tāmaki Makaurau finest songwriters, Roy Irwin has opened up a treasure trove of "old songs and demos from 2013", sporting nine rare and intimately recorded tunes. Unadorned by much in the way of studio wizardry, Irwin's lyrical gifts and prowess on guitar have clearly already emerged on Demos 1 — there's even an track with their future NO-CLIP collaborator Joe Locke (P.H.F.) — with the collection's unambiguously lo-tech origins lending the songs a kind of timeless and rustic aura. Featuring early and alternate cuts, some of which were later released as out of print singles, album tracks or numbers with their former group Cool Runnings, apparently there's a whole lot more hidden gems tucked away in the vaults as Irwin explained via Instagram...

"Mōrena. Since the world is ending and everybody is dying here is a spontaneous release of old songs and demos from 2013. These have been private for ages now because I find all my old music embarrassing. But I have over 150 songs I’m hiding ?? so I may as well share them plus I’m absolutely starved for attention. These songs are all about death, addiction and depression, lmfao. Free download/ name your price/ link in bio. X"
