Effervescent Aotearoa pop star Benee aka Stella Bennett and co-writers Joshua Fountain and Djeisan Suskov walked away with the 2020 APRA Silver Scroll Award last night for their infectious hit 'Glitter'. Plucked from Benee's debut EP FIRE ON MARZZZ, this is her second Silver Scroll nomination, following finalist track 'Soaked' just last year, and her acceptance speech went along the lines of "This is nuts. Thank you very much. This is crazy". In a most responsible move, the awards went ahead online this year, featuring a series of exceptionally shot and pre-recorded performances of the 2020 finalists' songs.

Julia Deans of Fur Patrol fame stepped into the music director shoes, curating the awards' cover performance tradition in its 55th year. Standouts include Delaney Davidson rolling out a delightful bluesy, calypso rendition of Benee's 'Glitter' with Ōtautahi's All Girl Big Band, Disciple Pati's spin on Reb Fountain's 'Don't You Know Who I Am', and a body-rattling performance from metal thrashers Alien Weaponry, who took on Troy Kingi track 'Mighty Invader'. Cast your eyes over the glorious winners below, and scroll down to watch the full ceremony...
