Watch Princess Chelsea's Video For 'I Miss My Man'

Currently calling the leafy surrounds of Waiheke Island her home, Princess Chelsea aka Chelsea Nikkel has gifted fans a sparkling new video in advance of her forthcoming Homecoming NZ Tour, the globally revered cyber-pop songwriter's first nationwide tour in two years. Shot at a local carwash (adorned by some pretty dang great animal themed posters) and edited by the artist herself with considerable visual panache, 'I Miss My Man' is a performance clip at its core, documenting Nikkel giving her vehicle a sudsy scrub with while pining for a return to a life of romance.

'I Miss My Man' is drawn from Princess Chelsea's latest album The Loneliest Girl, which was originally set to be toured in 2018, before she wisely chose to put her health before her music and paused the run of launch gigs midway through. The singer / producer's upcoming Aotearoa headline events pick up that thread, celebrating those songs in literally a whole new light with snazzy live visuals courtesy of 2018 Walters Prize finalist Simon Ward and support from electronic music auteur Stef Animal, who was recently described by Bandcamp Daily as “a leading example of Oceanic Vaporwave”. That's an artistic equation guaranteed to add up to some magical shows indeed — Princess Chelsea spilled the beans about the heartfelt sentiment behind 'I Miss My Man'...

"This song is about the slight shame a woke feminist might feel when missing a man or feeling sad about a man. I guess I’m trying to say don’t worry it’s normal and not necessarily weak to ‘miss your man’. We are only human after all. I was listening to a lot of Fleetwood Mac's Tango In The Night around the time of this composition. It’s about getting back to the basics of raw emotion and not having to contextualise every feeling - I believe love songs and break up songs can and should transcend certain personal boundaries and unite us in a way.”
