Infestive Festive Festivities Fundraiser Announced Feat. Wax Chattels + More

Chris Cudby / Wednesday 25th November, 2020 1:47PM

Christmas is nearly upon us and Tāmaki Makaurau's most infamously named venue, Auckland Old Folks Ass., will be host to an all ages Infestive Festive Festivities fundraiser this December — happening the Friday before Santa clambers down your chimney to give you a special gift from his sack. The event features a rare live appearance from genre-defying local champs Wax Chattels, who dropped their cacophonous second album Clot in September, along with rising surf-poppers Caught Inside, post-punks Ballot Box and Junebug, the songwriting nom de plume of Izzy Christie. All proceeds go to the crucial cause of Auckland City Mission, here are the details...

Press release:

The infestive festive season is approaching, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with some festive festivities! Come along on the 18th of December to the Auckland Old Folks Hall (8 Gundry Street) to listen to live music performed by 4 groups of local Auckland musicians. The lineup consists of Wax Chattels, Caught Inside, Ballot Box, and Junebug. Doors open at 7, and music starts at 7:30. Early bird tickets are $15, final week tickets are $18, and door sales are $20.

Wax Chattels describe themselves as “guitarless guitar music”, being former jazz students turned into a live-wire post-punk trio.

Caught Inside are a young up-and-coming indie surf-pop band, coming off the release of their debut EP, “Get Down in Clown Town”.

Ballot Box are a four-piece delivering music with intertwined guitar riffs and fractured rhythms, while still locked into the driving nature of post-punk.

Junebug is the pseudonym of Izzy Christie, a young singer-songwriter focused on personal and confessional-style compositions, inspired by musicians like Mazzy Star and Elliot Smith.
