The Gordons Debut Album + 'Future Shock' Vinyl Reissue Announced

Chris Cudby / Wednesday 2nd December, 2020 9:42AM

Ground zero when it comes to feedback-drenched, uncompromisingly abrasive Aotearoa post-punk, The Gordons' early recordings sound as intense now as when they first exploded eardrums 40 years ago. A fresh vinyl reissue of The Gordons' hugely influential 1981 self-titled debut LP packaged with a new pressing of their 1980 'Future Shock' 7" has been announced (bundled together by Flying Nun Records in 1988), set to launch this coming January. The legendary trio of Alister Parker, Brent McLachlan and John Halvorsen are of course now known as Bailterspace and still embodying the noisy spirit of NZ's underground, with their excellent latest album Concret launched just back in July of this year. Are these reissues a sign that The Gordons' near-mythical second album might soon see the official light of day? We're guessing: probably not — get in those preorders pronto over on the Flying Out site here.
