Full Lineup Announced For Newtown Festival 2021

Annabel Kean / Thursday 17th December, 2020 11:37AM

The ginormous Newtown Festival 2021 lineup has landed, and it would appear headliner Estère is going to be in very good company come March. It wouldn't be a Pōneke summer fest without future legends The Phoenix Foundation, along with fellow Wellington acts Soft Plastics, NahBo, Vera Ellen, Lilith, Prison Choir, Riki Gooch, DARTZ, the always heart-warming Solid Gold Dance Crew, and oodles more local talents. Sunblock-slathered attendees will also get to catch Samara Alofa live, melancholy pop-folk songwriter Ben Woods makes his return, Earth Tongue perform once again in their old haunt, Vanessa Worm brings her off the wall live show to the mix, and rap champ Diggy Dupé makes his way down from Tāmaki for the big day. In case you're new to Newtown Fest, the whole event is free and takes over the heart of Newtown with music, art, dance, food and all the other best festival staples, anything and everything from MulletMan to Hugo Grrrl. Take in the full suite of more than 150 acts below, and be sure to save the date...

UPDATE: even more artists from all thoughout Aotearoa have joined the bill for Newtown Festival 2021...

Press release:

Newtown Festival hits the streets yet again and we welcome one and all to join the party on Sunday 7 March 2021. Our last festival was just before the first nationwide lockdowns and we are fortunate to come back again to mark the end of summer. We would like to acknowledge and congratulate our programmers for always lovingly curating such a great lineup of locals as well as favourites coming from further afield. And, a huge welcome to the many many talented artists bringing the energy to Newtown. With over 150 performances across 15 stages, and taking up space along Riddiford and its side streets, we present our performance programme. Enjoy!
