Like our very own Aotearoa equivalent to US '80s hitmakers Nu Shooz, sibling trio Brother Sister serve up an office boogie double-dose of synth-pop hooks and squigglemania visuals in their new video for 'Stop', originally showcased on 2019's SSDD EP. Kicking off with classic words from Ferris Bueller, Brother Sister's Dave Thomson and Taz Thomson (with Ben Thomson on drums) reflect on a postmodern world and pine for a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city's 24/7 grind, riding a pulsing electronic groove into the great outdoors to start life anew. Directed and edited by Dave Thomson with claymation visuals by Cameron Orr, the clip for 'Stop' channels their love for such music video touchstones as Peter Gabriel's 'Sledgehammer' and vintage esoterica including View-Master slides, old comic book ads, cassette players and action figures into one eye-popping audio-visual package that's sure to jumpstart your Friday. Dave Thomson revealed the rural origins of 'Stop': “I was quite isolated over lockdown, living alone in the forest for most of it, being able to work on something creative especially with my siblings allowed me to stay centred and connect with my family. The song really resonated with what I had been searching for recently, being able to truly ‘Stop’ and appreciate the trees instead of the traffic was really good for my soul”.
