Fresh from touring Aotearoa late last year with fellow Ōtautahi songwriter Jack Page, Emily C. Browning recently unveiled her new audio-visual combo 'I Wasn't Into You Anyway', teasing the release of a forthcoming debut album (expected out later this year). Co-directed by Browning and Clowmount, with support from NZ On Air, the crisp and minimal clip for Browning's low key and sassy pop banger puts the songwriter in a literally spicy situation, coping on camera with the effect of biting into red hot chilis provided by SpicyBoys. What starts out elegant and composed gets messy by the end of a video that could easily double as performance art documentation, yet Browning still somehow keeps her cool...

"Everyday for a month I wrote in my journal: I want to write a song about feeling rejected. But I couldn’t figure out how to keep it light and funny, it can be quite a painful topic and I didn’t want to sound too heavy. But I kept working on it everyday and came up with this song.

I then spent another month recording it, trying to capture a sound that stayed upbeat and playful. I put so much time and energy into the song that I ended up completely forgetting about the person who rejected me in the first place (honest, I swear)." - Emily C. Browning.

'I Wasn't Into You Anyway' is out now via major streaming services.
