French For Rabbits Announce 'The Overflow' Winter Tour of Aotearoa

French For Rabbits Announce 'The Overflow' Winter Tour of Aotearoa

Chris Cudby / Tuesday 15th June, 2021 10:00AM

It's been four years since Te Whanganui-a-Tara's French For Rabbits released their dreamy second album The Weight Of Melted Snow, which led to an extensive US tour, an appearance at SXSW and a worldwide re-release via Muscle Beach Records. Fronted by songwriter Brooke Singer, the team of John Fitzgerald, Ben Lemi, Penelope Esplin and Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa have been drip-feeding fans fresh tunes and magical videos during that time, and have confirmed studio album number three is indeed on the way. The long-awaited new record is set to launch this November, preceded by a winter launch tour celebrating the upcoming unveiling of title track 'The Overflow'.

While that song isn't officially out yet, FFR did provide RNZ's Jessie Mulligan a live to air sneak peek all the way back in 2019, that you can listen to HERE — described as "the most optimistic song you may ever hear about panic attacks." Don't miss them at the following dates, with special guests to be revealed soon...

Press release:

Led by songwriter Brooke Singer, the full five-piece band featuring John Fitzgerald, Ben Lemi (Trinity Roots, Dawn Diver), Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa (Dawn Diver) and Penelope Esplin (Grawlixes, Lake South) will be hitting rural roads of New Zealand for six shows. Their impeccable understated songcraft and affable banter will suit each of the venues to a tee, inviting audiences to lean into the intimate but expansive sound-world created by the band. The tour follows on from a handful of spellbinding performances back in April, and an appearance in the 'Mansfield: In her own Words' concerts in June.

The band are on the brink of sending a flurry of goodness our way over the coming months, with a series of singles and videos ready for release and their third full-length record due out in November. This tour is in celebration of the first of these aural treats, with the title track of their forthcoming record 'The Overflow' due for release in early July.
