Proteins Of Magic Shares Debut Single / Video 'One More Thing'
The new solo project of recently returned to Aotearoa songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Kelly Sherrod, we can look forward to seeing and hearing lots more from Proteins Of Magic in the near future. Formerly one half of Punches, Sherrod has unveiled the sweeping and emotive first official single from POM, launched with a superbly mind-melting self-made claymation video. Back in NZ from Nashville, Tennessee and recently spotted supporting Hawke's Bay post-rock titans Jakob, Proteins Of Magic has a raft of events lined up for the months ahead, including Moral Support's stacked Deep Dive festival, plus hints of even more high profile live appearances to be announced soon. With a self-titled debut album set to launch on 13th August, Sherrod opened up about her family's return to Aotearoa during 2020's turbulent times and the feelings orbiting her video for 'One More Thing'...
“I remember wondering if it would be at least a year before I was able to get back to New Zealand. Feeling at times trapped during lockdown for what ended up being 6 months, ultimately, I decided with my husband, that it was best for me to travel back to New Zealand with our 5 year old son, there I could focus on my album and Marlo could attend school.
...what i'm trying to convey is we all need more time, as people we all need another chance, the morphing clay characters are asking for empathy, especially during the pandemic, everyone is taking sides, but it can be an opportunity to understand each other, especially in America where I've been living, it is so divided right now."
