It's a uniquely Courtney Barnett crowd that'll go from pin drop silence to screaming "You're a good cunt!" within the space of 'Let It Go' and 'Depreston', and it was exactly that kind of crowd at her Elemental Nights show at the Auckland Town Hall last night. The last date in her New Zealand solo tour, Barnett was a well oiled machine and clearly in high spirits, spending a good chunk of her end of show banter thanking the crew, her Things Take Time, Take Time collaborator Stella Mozgawa, and support act Emily Edrosa, who opened for Barnett at every show. She promised to come back with her band to tour the next album soon — until then we've got these lovely Connor Crawford snaps to pore over, and three more epic evenings in the Elemental Nights series...
