DARTZ Announce 'Toyota Corolla' Tour of Aotearoa

Beloved for their party-igniting shows and furiously fun anthems raising the middle finger to some of Aotearoa's most infamous dickheads, DARTZ "the band from Wellington" spark up your Friday with a whopper of a tour announcement. Fresh from their starring role in UTR Trash Recital episode 5, the team of Danz, Crispy, Rollyz and Clark Mathews are squeezing into the DARTZ-mobile for a massive fifteen date, Goodbye Pork Pie style 'Toyota Corolla' tour, celebrating the forthcoming release of their live fave of the same name from August to early October, including Tāmaki's mega-stacked The Others Way 2021 festival. Now just imagine when the borders open up again, a DARTZ international tour could be called 'DARTZ All Around The World'! Witness the depravity of DARTZ's video for new single 'Pray For Prey'...

Synopsis:

Four young men set out on a thousand-mile escapade in a tiny, red, Toyota Corolla.

DARTZ – Toyota Corolla Tour 2021 is the exciting story of four very different young men - and of their incredible (and often very funny) thousand mile journey in a very small, red, Toyota Corolla.

Rollyz is young and restless and unemployed. He lives in Newtown, Wellington, New Zealand, so when the car gives him the chance to head to a big gig, he moves fast and starts looking for excitement.

Clark is older and slightly more conventional. He also has employment trouble - in his case he just doesn't like looking for work. Crispy has gone and booked a 15 date tour of the country, venturing as far south as distant Invercargill, way down the other end of the country. Danz wants to come along but he doesn’t have any money

But DARTZ have the car...so together they hit the road.

A misunderstanding over a “professionally replaced” passenger door pushes them past the point of no return, with the police on their trail. They head off for adventure and excitement. They keep one jump ahead of the law, but this is due as much to good luck as good planning. Their exploits make them the heroes of the news media, with headlines following them as they hurtle south. The whole country follows their very well advertised tour with kick ass shows popping off in towns all across the country.

Along the way they don’t pick up anyone because the car is ridiculously overloaded as it is. Will they sell enough merch to make space for a chilly bin in the back seat!?

Gradually the four become committed to the common cause - of reaching their destination and avoiding the police.

But a very old, red, Toyota Corolla with four irrepressible occupants cannot be easily hidden. They become involved in an extraordinary chase through the streets and buildings of Wellington city. It culminates in a hilarious escape, and DARTZ start a new life inside a ferry, sailing to the other side as they begin the second stage of their journey.

The police, as usual, are left empty handed and by now, more than a little confused. The gang seems unstoppable; they leave one police car sinking in a lake and a second nose-dives over a cliff as the pursuit continues.

Hard up, the travellers are forced to sell pieces of their car as they head further south. They meet an eccentric collector who wants to add pieces of their car to his collection. Successful negotiations are completed. No sooner have they left when he rings the police, claiming that they are armed and heading south.

The film climaxes as they hurtle towards their final appointment with the law.
