Organgy (Jeff Henderson + Riki Gooch) Share Self-Titled Album

Continuing on from yesterday's coverage of new releases from the stable of Tāmaki Makaurau-based experimentalist Jeff Henderson (who looks to be going through a prolific streak), a fresh collection has landed in our laps from Organgy, a spellbinding keys-driven collaboration with Te Whanganui-a-Tara multi-instrumental maestro Riki Gooch (Cave Circles). Recorded at Audio Foundation and Auckland Old Folks Ass. back in 2014, the album presents "a project involving up to 8 organs stationed throughout a space activated by taping keys down to produce an accumulating drone. This recording layers multiple Organgy performances to create a slow moving mass of sound."

Thirty minute plus opener 'Organgy (Part 1)' unfolds like the dawning of a new day, engulfing listeners in radiant layers of time-defying organ tones, while radio playlisters can slot the less extended yet more abrasive drone-scapes of 'Organgy (Part 2)' right onto A Rotate with minimum fuss. Listen up below (they suggest "Best listened to loud") and catch Riki Gooch performing as part of the all-mega Now! Here! This! Ōtepoti festival in late August...
