Fat Freddy's Drop Share New Album 'WAIRUNGA'

With all the kerfuffle going on about NZ's latest lockdown restrictions, Aotearoa roots heavyweights Fat Freddy's Drop have reemerged with a perfectly timed full length dose of blazed "bush alchemy" groove worship, helping us collectively ease into the housebound weekend to come. Delving into the band's shared love of Amapiano (a South African township style of techno) and named after "a place we like to roam", the gently acid-tinted WAIRUNGA was laid down outdoors deep in Ngāti Kahungunu country — as documented in their recently launched live concert film of the same name. Sporting a fresh mixture of new tunes alongside Fat Freddy's classics 'Bones' and 'Wairunga Blues', the legendary crew keep the vibe right throughout, letting their musical muse take them through soulful and lush zones of sonic exploration.
