Goya Announce 'Being Earnest' EP Release Tour

Annabel Kean / Wednesday 1st September, 2021 9:42AM

Word on the street is Pōneke post-punks Goya (formerly Church Of Goya) are packing into a Ford Falcon this October, touring the country, and may even be taking their power tools with them. The raucous three-piece have been cooking up fresh tracks from their Te Whanganui-a-Tara HQ, and come tour time they'll be firing new EP Being Earnest our way both online and IRL. Zagging from Hamilton down to Ōtepoti, noise fiends Lucas Donnell (EUG, Lucky Jim), Jonathan Shirley (Soft Plastics, The Spectre Collective) and Frazer Charlton (EUG, Mothers Dearest) promise "new music and a jaded outlook", as well as a frankly OTT arsenal of support acts warming up the stage along the way. Fellow Wellington troublemakers Horn are on the line up for the home town show, Kirikiriroa fuzz-punks Half/Time join the party in Hamilton, and there are still supports yet to be announced. Take in the full dates, details and opening acts below, and be sure to lock in your spot...

Press release:

Goya Announce ‘Being Earnest’ EP Release Tour

Pōneke post-punks Goya (fka Church of Goya) have got some shiny new songs that they want to show you. Their second EP ‘Being Earnest’, the follow up to their 2018 album ‘GOYA IS A DEAD MAN’, is nearly finished gestating and ready to be brought into this cold world. To celebrate, they are going to the people.

Lucas (EUG, Lucky Jim), Jono (Soft Plastics, The Spectre Collective) and Frazer (EUG, Mothers Dearest) are very excited to be hitting the road, armed with a Ford Falcon, new music and a jaded outlook. Throughout the first half of October they’ll be roaming round Aotearoa, posting up at a dive bar near you and sharing the stage with some new and old friends. Punters can expect the Goyans’ usual loud and infectious noise, plus new songs bringing hard grooves and dripping with venom. There might also be the occasional power tool involved…
