Listen To Marlin's Dreaming's Single 'Trophies'
If lead single 'Lumia' was their album's melancholy slow-jam, new drop 'Trophies' is Marlin's Dreaming's latest brooding, moody grunge track. The second release from their forthcoming third studio album Hasten, 'Trophies' was recorded with Warwick Donald in a rundown old warehouse somewhere in Newtown, Pōneke before being mixed on the band's home turf at Dunedin's Chicks Hotel by Tom Bell and mastered by New York-based engineer Heba Kadry. Written about "The expectations that people in our lives can place on us, and the negative psychological effects that can result", 'Trophies' teases an epic crescendo that never quite hits, rather keeping you hooked with gentle waves of strings from guitarist De Stevens and bass player Oscar Johns, while Hamish Morgan's constant hush of snare and cymbal is wound up in the twang of frontman Semisi Maiai's mellow lead vocals. Hasten is out in full this October 1st ahead of a nationwide album release tour — until then, get Marlin's Dreaming marlin streaming...
