TE KAAHU Performs 'Rangirara' + 'E Hine Ē' For RNZ Music
In celebration of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori / Māori Language Week the RNZ Music team have shared superb footage of TE KAAHU, the te reo Māori project of Theia aka Em Walker (Waikato-Tainui, Ngāti Tiipaa), performing her latest single 'Rangirara' plus recent waiata 'E Hine Ē' with live band at Mt Albert's Te Noho Kotahitanga wharenui. Meaning "beyond the heavens", 'Rangirara' is named after Theia's grandmother, while 'E Hine Ē' is described by the artist as “a waiata aroha. It is for any girl or woman you have loved or ever will love". The live session features none other than Lyttelton legend Delaney Davidson and Jol Mulholland on guitar, and HINA on vocals, playing stunning renditions of both tunes you can experience below...
"Tautokongia ngaa kaitito Maaori me tooku reo rangatira! Support Māori composers and my chiefly language!" – Theia
'Rangirara' and 'E Hine Ē' are out now on major streaming services.
