Marlin's Dreaming Drop New Album 'Hasten'
There's nothing like a simile about frozen toothpaste on the first track to set the frosty Dunedin scene for Marlin's Dreaming's new album Hasten. Out today, the collection is their third full-length offering, following the gentle psych of their 2017 debut Lizard Tears and their much-loved 2020 drop Quotidian, which saw the band settle into their guitar-pop sound. Bandmates Semisi Maiai, Hamish Morgan, Tim McNaughton and Oscar Johns recorded Hasten over the past year between Newtown in Pōneke and classic Dunedin venue Chicks Hotel, brewing up perfectly gloomy singles 'Trophies' and 'Lumia', the latter of which was vocalist Maiai's first solo outing. Marlin's Dreaming have an effortless knack for heart-punching melodies, delivered fuss-free on tracks like 'Dogfight' and 'Showman' without breaking a sweat. Peek the feature from artist Sophie Lemaire-Sicre on 'Track 12' (which is actually track 9) and the particularly dreamy vocals from Maiai on 'Earth Dirt' (eat your heart out Marlon Williams). Add some lush new Marlin's Dreaming to your Friday with Hasten...
