No Girl Share Debut Album 'Whelmed'

No Girl Share Debut Album 'Whelmed'

Annabel Kean / Friday 17th December, 2021 2:06PM

Cast your mind back three years to 2018, when David Byrne toured the country, both Marlon Williams and The Beths released LPs, and Tāmaki band No Girl were chipping away at Whelmed — their debut album which is at long last out today. Featuring vocals from Charlotte Nicklin, guitar by her sister Louisa Nicklin, Harry Falkiner on drums, and bass / synth duty by Seamus Maguire, the new eight-track drop is a fuzzy feast of shoegazy goodness. In addition to having one of the best album titles I've seen this year, Whelmed jumps through hazy, synth-forward soundscapes on the likes of opener 'Macaulay', rocky, guitar-band moments on 'Make It Easy', and smatterings of reverb-soaked electronic breakdowns throughout. Enjoy the long-awaited album below and do not ask me what the wooden pig contraption on the cover is...

No Girl's debut album 'Whelmed' is out now on streaming services.
