Wiri Donna Unveils Single / Video 'No Follow Through'

Wiri Donna aka Bianca Bailey is back after a two year breather between official releases with ‘No Follow Through’, the lead cut from the Te Whanganui-a-Tara songwriter's forthcoming debut EP Being Alone. Signalling a new evolution for the rising artist, Wiri Donna's crunchy and catchy jangle-pop anthem has received a resplendent visual treatment from the mega-productive Sports Team crew (who also created DARTZ's new vid), made with support from NZ On Air. An eerily accurate portrayal of a solo artist bouncing around musical ideas at home, the clip captures apartment jams with home-crafted bandmates (whose style reminds me of early '00s Providence noise bands), veering off into wilder territory as the evening progresses. Recorded with James Goldsmith, Wiri Donna laid out the ideas behind ‘No Follow Through...

“It pays homage to the fact that no one else is really counting on you. People have their own expectations about what you’re capable of, or not capable of, but when push comes to shove, you’re the only one setting those expectations for yourself.

Being Alone is a coming of age record that has been brewing for the past two years. I’d like to think it strikes a balance between eternal optimism and pure devastation, a sentiment that people can either relate or sympathise with.”
