Premiere: Al Park Shares Single / Video 'Running Away From A Broken Heart' + Announces Album Release Show

Chris Cudby / Thursday 14th April, 2022 8:55AM

Lyttelton legend Al Park has unveiled his latest single / video combo that we're proud to premiere today, 'Running Away From A Broken Heart', the second tune revealed from Park's forthcoming first album in over twenty years Pony. It's a rustic, tender-strumming, beautifully sung country ballad that may well get you a bit weepy-eyed this autumnal Thursday morn (opening with the relatable line "I've had tears run down / 'til I thought I would drown") — launched with suitably down 'n' out monochrome visuals courtesy of Allan 'Woll' Walley.

'Running Away From A Broken Heart' isn't the only treat from Park today, as he's announced a launch extravaganza for Pony happening at Loons on 27th May, performing with his band plus special guests Adam McGrath (The Eastern) & Jess Shanks, and Adam Hattaway & Tess Liautaud. An "Americana, country rock album featuring songs written by Al from the 1970's to now," the prolific and prodigious Hattaway co-produced Pony with Elmore Jones, both of whom also play on the record. Enjoy the new video ahead of its official release on Good Friday, and be sure to snap up tickets for this landmark event when they go on sale tomorrow...
