Anthonie Tonnon Unveils Single 'Lockheed Bomber'
Preparing to swoop across Aotearoa on his forthcoming Leave Love Out Of This tour, 2022 Taite Music Prize finalist Anthonie Tonnon has lifted the lid on 'Lockheed Bomber', written with co-producer Jonathan Pearce (The Beths). Previously only available on compact disc and digital downloads of the Whanganui songwriter's latest album, the freshly unearthed tune is based on the Canberra air disaster of 1940. Tonnon revealed how the single's sonic intricacies required Pearce's expertise, explaining 'Lockheed Bomber' “started as a finger picking pattern so complicated I needed Jonathan’s help to do the musical maths. It turned into a really dramatic band-led epic, and it’s one of the songs we’re most excited about performing as a band”.
