Brewing up a post-apocalyptic sound befitting these strange days of 2022, Tāmaki Makaurau's Nuggiez have unleashed their new album Toil in the Time of Monsters. Stitching together some kind of anti-capitalistic Frankenstein of jagged post-punk rhythms, wild horns (saxophone, trumpet and trombone are represented), crunchy angular / psych / surf-tinted guitars and vocalist Drew McCormack yelling like he's trapped at the bottom of a well, Nuggiez are never less than energised and urgent throughout their twelve song opus. Mixed by the band's bassist / synth player Martin Phillips (REPAIRS) and mastered by Nich Cunningham (TOOMS), get pumped for tomorrow's album launch party at Whammy Bar with Cootie Cuties and Grown Downz by hitting play below — limited vinyl LP copies will be available on the door...
