Brewing up a post-apocalyptic sound befitting these strange days of 2022, Tāmaki Makaurau's Nuggiez have unleashed their new album Toil in the Time of Monsters. Stitching together some kind of anti-capitalistic Frankenstein of jagged post-punk rhythms, wild horns (saxophone, trumpet and trombone are represented), crunchy angular / psych / surf-tinted guitars and vocalist Drew McCormack yelling like he's trapped at the bottom of a well, Nuggiez are never less than energised and urgent throughout their twelve song opus.
