We're finally welcoming an onslaught of overseas artists back to Aotearoa's venues, including Portland's Mean Jeans — who've just announced a special one-off headline gig at Tāmaki Makaurau's Whammy Bar in early September. The garage punk project of Billy Jeans, Jeans Wilder and Junior Jeans, Mean Jeans have been ram-raiding earholes since 2006 via releases on such prestigious imprints as Fat Wreck Chords and Dirtnap, including 2015's Singles, 2018's Jingles and 2019's Gigantic Sike. They'll be bringing the party to St. Kevins Arcade's iconic subterranean venue with special guests Cindy and Cootie Cuties, before heading across the ditch for shows with The Chats. Get your butt along or miss out forever...

Press release:

The trio of Portland punk rock party animals Mean Jeans arrive in New Zealand for the first time ever, to perform one show only at Auckland's Whammy Bar With Cindy & Cootie Cuties and a fierce commitment to partying.

Mean Jeans then head across the ditch to rip dates supporting Shed rockers The Chats.

Mean Jeans began in Portland, OR around 2007 and is made up of Billy Jeans, Jeans Wilder, and Junior Jeans. More adept at goofing off than playing instruments, they've still managed to make a name for them selves with raucous live shows, a hefty discography of records on Dirtnap and Fat Wreck Chords.

After a dozen releases fusing pop punk like Ramones and The Riverdales with garage punk like Marked Men and The Spits, the group literally made an album of uns olicited jingles about beer, crummy chain restaurants, defunct paper supply companies and windshield wiper fluid. What more do you need to know?
