Listen To Francisca Griffin and the Bus Shelter Boys' 'Live at the Crown Hotel'

Chris Cudby / Tuesday 20th September, 2022 3:18PM

Jetting to Tāmaki Makaurau for The Others Way festival in October, Francisca Griffin (formerly of Look Blue Go Purple) recently shared a collection of tunes recorded at The Crown Hotel, documenting a live outing with her band the Bus Shelter Boys — aka Gabriel Griffin (her son, also of Sewage, Cuck), Mick Elborado (Negative Nancies, Terminals) and Ro Rushton-Green (also of Sewage). Presenting a eight song selection of Griffin's solo work in an energising and untethered new light, the legendary Ōtepoti artist described Live at the Crown Hotel August 14 2021 as "a good representation of how they sound live", reflecting "It's is kinda fascinating really, coz we don’t know what we sound like live! We’re a bit chaotic, but that is a live set, isn’t it?" A superb primer for what super city gig-goers can look forward to next month, the album also highlights The Crown's role as a crucial venue in Dunedin.
