Listen To Kenny Sterling's 'Desert Road / Ocean Of You'
As we collectively wend our way towards a surprise long weekend, Tāmaki Makaurau's songwriting / production prince Kenny Sterling (co-founder of Mānuka Recordings) reemerges from behind the mixing desk with two South Pacific solo reflections, 'Desert Road' and 'Ocean Of You'. Wielding a voice as rich as a young Barry Saunders (The Warratahs), Sterling's new tunes were in fact "written quickly between fighting off sea-sickness on the Inter-Islander travelling the length of New Zealand." Singing of leaving his heart somewhere within the alpine expanses of Te Ika-a-Māui's Desert Road and crooning romantically "I fell into the ocean of you," Sterling's two song sequel of sorts to his 2020 debut album Symphony Of Streetlights features Lucky Gem on lapsteel, Carla Camilleri (Recitals) on backing vocals on the first track, and Morgan Allen handling bass and mixing duties — hit play below...
'Desert Road / Ocean Of You' is out today on major streaming services.
