Proteins Of Magic Performs 'Cake’ and ‘Lethal' - UTR Trash Recital

We're thrilled to share the tenth episode of UTR presents Trash Recital Season 2 — starring Proteins of Magic, produced by Sports Team and made with support from NZ On Air!

Our final episode for 2022 stars Proteins of Magic, the multi-media project of Nashville-based Aotearoa artist Kelly Sherrod (formerly of Punches). Special guest for Dimmer's just wrapped-up tour, finalist for the 2022 Auckland Live Best Independent Debut Award, performing at The Others Way festival in October and currently in the middle of her own nationwide solo tour (details below), Sherrod squeezed in a visit to our infamous trash zone to sculpt an ensorcelling upcycled mashup of new single 'Lethal' and unreleased tune 'Cake' — using a plastic toy pony, cardboard box and classic trash can.

For each episode of Trash Recital we've invited some of our favourite Aotearoa artists into the UTR studios to perform one of their songs, re-created using everyday items selected from Sports Team's stockpile of recycled junk. Trash Recital not only provides a launchpad for stunning reimaginings of recent (and soon to be) classic tunes, but also the perfect opportunity for a chinwag with our local musical heroes.
