Ancient pagan rituals and byzantine liquor licensing rules collide for our traditional annual Easter holiday weekend in Aotearoa — when the majority of local bars will close up at midnight tonight, open again midnight Friday, close again at midnight Saturday, etc — so let's get the weekly roundup sorted before all that with a special Thursday edition. Revisit this week's news coverage of Bad Taste, Jazmine Mary, Ringlets, Mini Simmons, and F.A.I.R.Y, then scroll downwards to tuck into even more crucial local releases from The Forbin Project, The Lahaar, Kraus, Lontalius and Tiny Ruins.

An artist whose bedazzling latest record Bananamelia! gets better with every spin, now Melbourne-based Aotearoa electronic producer Amelia Berry aka Amamelia puts on The Forbin Project hat for her pumping new four track Futureworld! EP – "Some music inspired by my favourite late '90s / early 2000s game soundtracks: Ape Escape, Jet Set Radio, Crash Bandicoot. I put this together in moments between trying to find a new job in Naarm".

The trans-Tasman collaboration of Julien Dyne (also on artwork duties), Horatio Luna and Lachlan Stuckey (Surprise Chef), with Mara TK and Toby Laing on vocals, The Lahaar's self-titled EP is a sizzlin' five track sonic voyage inspired by "late 70's NYC proto-rap disco instrumentals, Nigerian boogie, Jamaican dub and modern jazzy house". Out now courtesy of UK imprint Soundway Records, nab the vinyl 12" edition via the Bandcamp link.

Aotearoa's emo-pop prince Lontalius aka Eddie Johnston (Race Banyon) reemerged with dependably heart-melting new single 'Right There'.

Releasing their keenly awaited new album Ceremony and touring nationwide in May, Tiny Ruins shared a live clip of the globally acclaimed Aotearoa collective performing 'Dogs Dreaming' from the record — the first in "a series of live and filmed recordings to accompany their upcoming fourth album".

Soon journeying to Naarm in April to bring "healing crystal-music from Aotearoa", Kraus treated listeners and viewers alike to a magical cascading experience featuring visuals by Art Mendez and Custom Video Recording Service — head over to the electronic artist's Instagram page HERE to watch, it's nice. Newsflash: Kraus just dropped brand new video 'Celebrant Crustacean: Synthesizer music for meditation / relaxation'.
