D.C. Maxwell Announces 'The Leading Man' Single Release Show

D.C. Maxwell Announces 'The Leading Man' Single Release Show

Chris Cudby / Tuesday 9th May, 2023 10:02AM

A dynamic emerging force in Aotearoa music, D.C. Maxwell has thrilled local crowds with all-star 12-piece band (at his sold out debut live show last August) and his recent opening set for Baltimore superstars Future Islands — all before officially releasing any music! The "weirdo-country" project of Tāmaki Makaurau's Daniel Smith (Roidz), the spotlight will be on D.C. Maxwell when his feverishly awaited debut single 'The Leading Man' launches into the world on 19th May, to be celebrated in style with a release event at Whammy Bar. Keeping his burgeoning fanbase on their toes with last week's NZ Music Month challenge directed at Six60 "to cover the song 'A.F.F.C.O.' by The Skeptics" ("it makes sense"), D.C. Maxwell is a creative powerhouse who demands to be experienced live. He'll be bringing the thunder with special guests Violet Hirst and (CC)TV (the latter artist's debut performance) on 9th June — capacity is strictly limited, we recommend getting tickets while you can...

Press release:

D.C. Maxwell will take the stage at Whammy for an electrifying night of music. Celebrating his debut single, 'The Leading Man', this rising star will showcase his captivating stage presence and unique weirdo-country sound that has been causing a stir in the New Zealand music scene.

D.C. Maxwell is a singer-songwriter known for his captivating stage presence. He has been the subject of hype and mystery since appearing on the scene last year. He performed with a legendary 12-piece band for his debut sell-out show, and has since went on to open for Future Islands at the Powerstation. All without releasing a single song. Some people might say he's an industry plant. Is it true or not? You'll have to come see for yourself

With his love for theatrics, his music promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience that combines his unique sound with the power of live performance.

The night will also feature support acts from the talented Violet Hirst and a debut performance from (CC)TV.
