D.C. Maxwell Unveils Debut Single / Video 'The Leading Man'

D.C. Maxwell swaggers into our hearts with 'The Leading Man', the Tāmaki Makaurau rising star's feverishly-awaited debut single, out today via LA tastemakers Danger Collective Records. Proudly repping his own brand of "weirdo country", former ROIDZ frontman Daniel Smith's first official solo release is a passionate affair with epic sweeping orchestration to match — recorded in collaboration with Peter Ruddell (Wax Chattels, Sulfate) and a cast of Aotearoa musical heroes including Elizabeth Stokes (The Beths), Hariet Ellis (Na Noise, Dick Move), Jong-Yun J.Y Lee (Avantdale Bowling Club, Yoko-Zuna), and Dave Khan (Reb Fountain).

D.C. Maxwell cuts an impressive figure in his accompanying clip directed by Fraser Chatham, boogieing around stage sets and puncturing the illusion of theatre, whilst recounting the scandalous tale of an actor who "committing a real-life murder in the middle of a play". Expressing emotions so powerful you can almost tangibly feel them, D.C. Maxwell will take centre stage at his forthcoming release event at Whammy Bar, joined for the occasion by special guests Violet Hirst (whose new song 'Alternate Ways To Pray' is also out today) and (CC)TV on 9th June.
