It's looking to be a big year coming up for Tāmaki Makaurau electronica artist deepState aka Jessica Morgan, who has just revealed her second album Dreams is launching on 1st September via the champs at Sunreturn. Contributor to the latest edition of The Big Fresh Collective's award-winning FOOTMAHI compilation series, the prolific producer shares an emotionally swirling first taste of the long player to come with lead single 'Won't Let You Down' — out today with cinematic visuals courtesy of director (and fellow Wellness bandmate) Frances Carter, made with support from NZ On Air.

Channeling uplifting energy while navigating run down super city suburbs (it's always a gamble whether the trains will be running or not), the beautifully filmed clip for 'Won't Let You Down' stars Gabe Wright and Teuila Brown, alongside appearances by Ary Jansen, Kimmi Rindel, and deepState herself. Enticing ears with deceptively lite, club-friendly house grooves and atmospheric synth swells before hitting us with a massive rave piano crescendo, experience 'Won't Let You Down' below and don't miss deepState at Te Whanganui-a-Tara's Valhalla on 13th July, as part of a stacked lineup of local supports for UK junglists 4AM KRU...

“I wanted to make an uplifting dance track inspired by house and dance hits of the 1990's. I love the big sound of house, rave piano and vocal samples, they feel so euphoric and always add an extra layer of energy and emotion.

Won’t Let You Down is probably the most upbeat track on Dreams and I feel that it stands out from the rest in that way.” — deepState

"I was instantly into this track when I heard it, it has such a great hook and I love how it develops from quite a spacey, calm beginning to a true dfloor banger. Jess and I both liked the idea of a simple video focusing on a couple going out for a dance, with Jess herself only making a few small appearances. We shot over one weekend with just a two person crew, roaming around various locations from Mt Albert to Eden Terrace. We decided on black and white for the majority of the video, with the transition to neon colour serving to illustrate how immersive and transformational it can be to just let loose and have a good, sweaty dance." — Frances Carter
