It's been a short one work week-wise thanks to our newly rebranded Kings Birthday public holiday, yet one heck of a time for significant Aotearoa releases so let's get stuck right in. Rewind to our past four days news coverage of Bad Taste, Tom Lark, Vincent H.L, Sin City, Synthetic Children and Estère, then scroll downwards for more choice new / recent local drops from Magic Factory, Church, Thagomizer, MOKOMOKAI, Lontalius, Repulsive Woman, GTKB, Sure Boy, Joe Kaptein, and Gudenuff.

Tāmaki Makaurau rock gods Magic Factory rev up with 'Catfish' — inspired by singer "Matt Short's lost days spent in the Tucson Arizona wilderness" — the rip-snorting lead track from their upcoming album Deliver The Goods.

One half of Tāmaki Makaurau hip-hop wunderkinds Church & AP, Church harks back to the already distant days of SPRING '21 on his melancholic club-bumping solo debut album. He said, "Although I can't relate to these songs anymore... maybe you can?"

Pōneke's enigmatic Thagomizer dropped a four track chunk of lumbering dino-synth this week, evoking Harryhausen-eque jungle battles on the vibe-setting Time Of The Titans.

The Aotearoa hip-hip super team of rapper Dirty with producers Dusty & Ghos, MOKOMOKAI's second album WHAKAREHU features heavy-hitting collabs with such local stars as Brandn Shiraz, The Hongi Slicker (aka Troy Kingi) and Melodownz.

Prodigious Aotearoa songwriter Eddie Johnston reflects on his journey so far on his fourth album as Lontalius, exquisitely produced by Jeff Kleinman (Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, FKA Twigs).

Winner of the Best Independent Debut Award for her 2019 album Relief, Repulsive Woman has reemerged with '137 Page', a shimmering lead single from the artist's forthcoming The Even Hand EP, produced by Brooke Singer (French for Rabbits).

Te Papaioea four-piece GTKB rip out five instrumental tracks on their new collection Spin, laid down by the group with Harry Lilley (First Move) at legendary community space The Stomach.

"Wellington’s baddest girl band" Sure Boy unveiled their hook-packed five song EP today, including SRN chart-hitting (currently sitting at the number 2 spot) lead track 'What You Do When You're Alright'.

Member of Princess Chelsea's famously talented live band and soon to hit the stage at Elemental Jazz as keyboardist for The Lahaar, Joe Kaptein unveiled on Sunday Nu Zild Songbook Vol. 1 — a "selection of great Kiwi clessuks, recorded 31st May 2023 at Botticelli Restaurant in Takapuna", with Wil Goodinson on bass duties and drummer George Brajkovich.

Host of next week's A Night With Vera Ellen event at Te Whanganui-a-Tara's Vogelmorn Bowling Club [get tickets HERE], podcasting personality Hahko launched his debut release as Gudenuff — "techno-realism featuring the late anti-capitalist intellectual Mark Fisher speaking on cultural parasites and the drug induced haze of modern music".
