Albi & The Wolves Share New Album 'Light After The Dark'
Aotearoa indie folk stars Albi & The Wolves are howling in triumph as they release their third studio album Light After The Dark via AAA Records. Produced by TeMatera Smith (Troy Kingi) over two years, the record is a breath of fresh Americana air in its string arrangements and hopeful lyrics. With strings scored by Pascal Roggen, the slow waltz-like ballad of ‘Pitter Patter’ pays tribute to singer Chris Dent’s late brother who was an environmentalist. “This song means that he’s with me still and there when I’m performing.” Double bassist Michael Young’s top choice is ‘High In Your Sigh’, a brass-filled groove that he composed. ‘Underpass’ is Pascal Roggen’s highlight: it’s a high energy foot-stomper bathed in positivity about a happy relationship.
The trio will be expanding into an eleven-piece band just for us on their upcoming tour next month, with three shows spanning Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. Experience their uplifting folk sounds live after soaking in their latest long player below…
